A few weeks ago while Abby was in New York on business, I visited some friends at their sublet by the beach. Their beach house is a bit far away from our apartment in Los Feliz so I decided a sleepover was in order! That evening we took a walk on the beach, cooked dinner, drank a little wine, talked and chilled. It was easy to slip into what the locals call the “South Bay Haze”.

The next afternoon I had a fun day exploring Hermosa Beach, here are some tips for a day trip.

Title-EatMy Yelp searches these days tend to go a little something like this: lunch healthy, cafe natural, restaurant natural…you get the picture. The Source Cafe is all of those things, both delicious and healthy. I had the Kale salad and a Chai tea latte while soaking up some much needed rays on their sidewalk dinning area.

Hermosa Beach has its fair share of the typical big-box retailers but boutiques (for me) are really where it’s at. Here are three I am looking forward to returning to:

SouthBayHaze6I thought the menswear selection at Becker Surfboards was really cute. Spotted a few pieces I would outfit the hubby in. I’ve always had a surfer/skater boy fantasy!

ThePlankSpaceSince arriving to the great state of California I’ve been working out, a lot. It was in a recent Pilates class where I looked down at my paint splattered leggings and realized I needed to step my game up. The Yummy Mummies in Cali do not play! Coveting a few pieces from The Plank Space

Red Roaster Mabana Pepper Mill

I love a good all purpose store and Wicked General Store does not disappoint. Lately, I’ve been thinking about getting an electric spice grinder. Spotted this beautiful hand made mill by Red Roaster Trading Company. There is something very charming about grinding my spices by hand.

This is a little obvious. Even in an LA winter the Pacific Ocean is still the best show in town.
